This tea jar is crafted from Zisha (purple clay), the traditional clay of Yixing, long regarded as one of the finest materials for storing and aging tea. Zisha is a naturally porous, unglazed clay: it breathes just enough to let the tea “live,” while still protecting it from excess air, light, and moisture.

Unlike glazed ceramics or metal tins, Zisha clay has a subtle micro-porous structure. Over time, it very gently regulates humidity inside the jar, helping to keep the leaves dry, stable, and free from unwanted odors. The interior stays neutral – there is no added coating or fragrance – allowing the character of the tea itself to remain pure.

As tea rests in a well-made Zisha jar, the clay and the leaves begin to respond to one another. The aroma can grow rounder, the edges softer, and the overall profile more harmonious, especially for teas suited to careful storage and slow transformation.
